Tree roots are amazing at how they can take a very small crack in the line and push to expand that crack into a complete failure. Depending on the severity of the root intrusion they usually can be removed and controlled from causing further damage. We recommend Hydro jetting the roots to remove all debris and grease, then applying a product called Rootx. This is a wonderful product that we have been using for over 10 years with outstanding results. Rootx is safe for all above ground vegetation and is EPA approved. The city of Portland currently uses Rootx to clean their systems. Rootx will need to be reapplied every 3-5 years for further root control.
